Portugal looks set to meet it's target of being able to generate 45% of it's energy requirements from renewables by 2010. Even more impressive when you consider that the UK is struggling to meet it's target of just - 10% by 2010.
Fidel Castro finally calls it a day around about the same time that some of the largest investment groups (controlling around £760 billion) have called on the United States to reduce its green houses gases by 90% and they have until 2050 to do it.
Coincidence?
A 'Happy Valentines' day to you all. To mark the first month of Save for a Change we have selected the British Heart Foundation to be our charity of the month. Hearts are important don't you think??
Energywatch have launched an attack on Energy provider's and the manner in which we are all billed. Apparently our bills are a little complicated (to say the least) and we would all like to be able to understand what we are actually paying for, without the need for some sort of diploma. Although someone did once say, "The large print giveth, and the small print taketh away".
It's been a very busy few weeks with all but one energy provider putting their prices up - just Scottish & Southern Energy left. Our suspicions of greed have been confirmed, surprisingly, by a select committee of MP's who have referred the matter to the 'Competition Commission'. While we're all waiting check our energy calculator to see if you have the best deal (remember, green is good).
